They also came in a hot/flouro pink colour and black with alternate pink or yellow soles.

The heels are currently still available online (January 2010, try Browns or NET-A-PORTER). They’re very summery and playful even with the black contrast.

I really like how the colour of the edge of the sole is still visible right under the ball of foot, showing attention to small details with a flirt of colour.

(Although that detail is not quite visible in the image, and is only really applicable to the black shoes with the pink or yellow sole.)

They would surely make someone think twice before trying anything.

I have to admit, I lust when I see these heels regardless of how slighty impratical they might be. I’d still be very willing.

I really like multiple ankle straps and somehow strategically placed mixture of studs and spikes, sporting the signature Louboutin red sole.

While I’m a fan of ankle straps, I actually think there is enough going on here to do without them, but with 2 inch platforms, one probably needs all the support one can get.

The heart theme seems to be making its rounds with Alexander McQueen. These two-toned heart courts are absolutely gorgeous. Very stylish heels with personality!

As of January 2010, these heels are still available at Zappos at 50% off in limited sizes.

There’s no doubt the design is distinct, featuring leather petals with metal studs and a contrasting two tone metal spike heel.

The colour makes me think of Autumn/Winter.

(The detail reminds me of fish scales, but more in a Koi sort of a way. Koi in Japanese art and depicted in tattoos has been on the rise in popularity for some time now, so it’s in an artistic way that I think of fish scales rather than the petals. It’s possible the double rubber platform could also come into play.)

Nonetheless, I adore the heel.

Today it’s her Paloma heels from the Vaudeville line (although it could have just easily been included in Orient Express, even though it is a showgirl kind of shoe).

I didn’t mention it previously, but Charlotte Olympia heels are branded with a gorgeous embellishment on the arch of the soles and if you hadn’t guessed what it was, it’s a spider’s web.

(You’ll find in some of Charlotte Dellal’s interviews that she makes reference to Charlotte (the spider) in case you were wondering about the connection.)

A pair of Valentino heels by Philip Treacy.

How I wish!

A pair of shoes by probably the most coveted Milliner in the world! Philip Treacy debuted his initiation into decorating les pied in the Valentino Spring/Summer 2010 collection.

This is some serious news and I don’t necessarily mean the shoes. For some women, obtaining a Philip Treacy headpiece is in itself a dream, and now the man is designing shoes?!

There’s definitely a touch of whimsy. I think of dark faeries eating gothic fairy floss in shadows of the forest on a sunny afternoon.

Well, you know, dark, sexy and a bit vampish.

The styles came in black and nude.

Cuban-American designer Alejandro Ingelmo certainly nailed his inspiration behind his Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

These edgy boots/sandals are made of a woven metallic fabric. Ingelmo refers to the Preying Mantis as “a man eater shoe”.

Coming from four generations of shoe cobblers, I’d take his word for it.

These heels are such statement. They’re a little bit power and little bit gladiator!

The Preying Mantis also comes in a smaller version, as well different colour variations: black & gold, black & silver and silver.

These heels are called Origami from the Big In Japan line.

I know this is going to come out wrong, and these heels are stunning, but I immediately think of big shoulder pads and teased up 80s hair.

(I could be making some sort of subconscious Deep Purple connection here so that’s entirely my fault. It’s kind of embarrassing and horrifying all at once! That my brain works that way, not that I like Deep Purple!)

Yes, I think these would look incredibly gorgeous with a Galaxy style dress.

It’s kind of like pastel candies meets the 1950s.

I’m usually not one for pastel colours but these shoes are really, too cute!

It’s actually a shame that these images don’t show the rear of the shoe.

The ankle strap version has a die cut/hole punch/cut out like heart shape at the rear of the shoe.

I prefer those to the t-bar version, but they’re all georgeous nonetheless.

Luella Bartley first debuted her collection in the Spring/Summer 2000 season.

Unfortunately earlier this month (November 2009) Luella announced that it had ceased trading due to the withdrawal of it’s current backer and are now seeking a new one, although they are currently exploring their available options.

I’m sure that regardless of the outcome this won’t be last we see of Luella.
