Oh my.

Cuban-American designer Alejandro Ingelmo certainly nailed his inspiration behind his Spring/Summer 2009 collection.

These edgy boots/sandals are made of a woven metallic fabric. Ingelmo refers to the Preying Mantis as “a man eater shoe”.

Coming from four generations of shoe cobblers, I’d take his word for it.

These heels are such statement. They’re a little bit power and little bit gladiator!

The Preying Mantis also comes in a smaller version, as well different colour variations: black & gold, black & silver and silver.

So seriously, what would Love Stiletto be without Love to the Godfather of Stiletto, Roger Vivier.

Vivier, who passed away in 1998, cemented his place in Stiletto history by using a thin metal rod in the construction of his Stiletto heeled shoes in 1954.

He designed shoes for the likes of royalty through to Hollywood glamour, as well as a number of iconic fashion houses. Roger Vivier was also renowned for his extravagent and opulent styles, utilising rich embellishments and unique heel designs.

In 2002 his name was acquired and so the name of Roger Vivier lives on.

For this gorgeous limited edition heel, we have Bruno Frisoni to thank. I think I’ll be dreaming of the Black, Red & White version tonight.

When I see some of the variations of these heels I can imagine why it probably wasn’t as popular as it could’ve been. There is quite a bit going on, ankle cuffs with open toes and straps that cross over with small buckles.

However when I look at this particular style for some reason I immediately think of Napoleon Bonaparte, an Admiral’s uniform or something slightly regal.

I feel as though I shouldn’t really like them because I’ve always found that colour of gold a bit garish, but I really, really like the cuffs.

As of writing this post (November 2009), surprisingly the heels are actually still available at Flannels and are on sale.

This shoe caused a bit of furore when it hit the catwalk.

John Galliano’s enthusiasm of depicting his African experience through sandals that sport a minature African Fertility Goddess as the heel wasn’t exactly shared by all.

Perhaps instead of looking at it as stepping on the Goddess, she could be uplifting… Though a bit hard I’d imagine when one is pregnant!

Oh well, what is fashion and art if it isn’t subjective…

Marion Cotillard wore the Deese Sandals to the Bike In Style event in New York earlier this year (June 2009).

Well “Closed Front Cage Sandals With Ankle Pads” is a bit of mouthful, but boy did these heels make the rounds.

Fondly known as the Lego shoe by Balenciaga, these heels have been likened to everything from the United Colors of Benetton to the Transformers, and, even a reminder of baseball. It’s definintely a love or hate relationship which was revived when Beyoncé wore them while performing at the AMA later on in the year (2007).

I actually like them. The overlapping layers on the back might detract from the heel, but then I’d probably be more likely to wear the black pair, which also came in another variation.

Steve Madden released a replica shoe, which, sorry Steve, (IMO) didn’t quite make the grade.

Probably more widely known as the Chanel Gun Shoe, and apparently “The Miami Vice” shoe in the upper echelons of Chanel, this sandal stole the spotlight when Madonna wore them to the premiere of her film “Filth and Wisdom” in late 2008.

The design was a collaboration between Karl Lagerfeld and Laurence Dacade who, before Chanel, also designed for Givenchy.
